There are no law departments in ordinary U.S. four year colleges. If one wishes to become a lawyer, he or she must attend law school, at the graduate level, to study law after completing a bachelors' degree. There is increasing interest within certain sectors in Japan to emulate the American law school system. Mr. Yukio Yanagida, a prominent international lawyer and a member of the Harvard Law School council, advocates the establishment of a law school system in Japan. We will hear from him as to concept, content and why he is advocating this approach.
